UniKL MESTECH is making a name for itself in the field of respirology and asthmatic research as two of its lecturers managed to bag two awards at two separate international conferences.

On the 3rd to 6th of November 2011, Mrs Nur Shukriyah Bt. Mohamad Hazir attended the 16th Congress of the Asian Pasific Society of Respirology co-organized by the Asian Pasific Society of Respirology and UBM Medica China at the Shanghai International Convention Centre. The congress brought together physicians, academicians, researchers, healthcare professionals and decision makers in the field of respiratory medicine from around the world to discuss emerging issues and exchange ideas on current research and clinical topics in respirology. Presenting a research entitled "DREV1 Inhibition Promotes Proliferation and Invasion of Lung Adenocarcinoma (A549) through Activation of PI3K and MAPKK Pathway" during the Cell and Molecular Biology oral presentation session, Mrs Nur Shukriyah managed to bag the Young Investigator Award at the congress from hundreds of hopefuls.

Across the world at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Dubai, UAE, Ms Nur Ezleen Qistina Bt. Ahmad attended the World Allergy Organization (WAO) International Scientific Conference from 5th to 8th of December 2010 which carries the theme of Asthma and Co-morbid Conditions: Expanding the Practice of Allergy for Optimal Patient Care. The conference brought more than 60 internationally renowned experts and approximately 1500 participants from over 50 countries to share their knowledge and experiences about the diagnosis and management of asthma and its co-morbidities. Ms Nur Ezleen Qistina made us proud by bagging one of the Outstanding Poster Awards with her research entitled "Analysis of Gene Expression Profiles of Peripheral Blood B Lymphocytes in Various Clinical Phenotypes of Asthma".

With this positive development, it is hoped that UniKL MESTECH will continue to be recognized locally and globally in respirology and asthmatic research areas in parallel with its aspirations to become the centre of excellence for clinical diagnostics and industrial healthcare.
