News : Developing Human Capital in Marine

Langkawi, 18 March 2015 – Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) sailed further in establishing its significant role in producing highly skilled human capital in marine engineering technology. During recent Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2015 (LIMA 2015), UniKL sealed a partnership with Marine Department of Malaysia through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) witnessed by YB Dato' Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport Malaysia. 
The collaboration enables both parties to venture into exchange of technical experts, offering of trainings and courses, produce joint publication and participate in exhibitions and promotions in the areas of marine technology. Both parties will also explore potential research and development activities that will benefit both UniKL and Marine Department.
Signing for UniKL were YBhg. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud, President / CEO of UniKL and Assoc. Prof. Zainorin Mohamad, Dean of UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET). Marine Department was represented by its Director General, YBhg. Dato' Haji Baharin Dato' Abdul Hamid and its Maritime Division Secretary, YBhg. Dato' Abdullah Yusuff Basiran. 
Also present to witness the signing were YB Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Annuar Haji Musa, MARA Chairman, YBhg. Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad, MARA Director General and YB Datuk Dr. Adham Baba, UniKL Chairman. "The partnership with Marine Department signifies recognition to the capability of UniKL, particularly UniKL MIMET in contributing to human capital development in Malaysia. Programmes offered by UniKL MIMET are industry relevance which equipped our graduates with the skills highly demanded in marine industries. Our graduates are proven to be among the skilled set of technical know-how experts, serving multinational companies in Malaysia and other parts of the world", remarked YB Datuk Dr Adham Baba after the signing.
