The UniKL RCMP representatives were warmly received by the Chairman & Dean, Faculty of Traditional & Complementary Medicine, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Asmadi Yusof, Dr. (H) Ibrahim Usman Mhaisker, Dr. (H) Avanish Shukla, Mdm. Rosita Binti Mohd Hussain, Mdm. Phang Mun Yee and Mdm. Reishmi B. Deva from Faculty of Traditional & Complementary Medicine.

During the visit, Deputy Dean Academic, Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Syed Rahim Syed Hamid, indicated UniKL RCMP's intention to gather important information particularly on the homeopathy course offered at CUCMS, the career path , internship arrangements and job opportunities for future graduates of the course.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Asmadi explained that homeopathy as an alternative medicine has been in Malaysia for almost 70 years and has been practiced in India for more than 200 years. The Bachelor of Homeopathy Medical Science (BHMS) program in CUCMS is a 4-year program which has so far produced one batch of graduates of 7 people. Five of the graduates are now practicing at different Homeopathy clinics in Malaysia.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Asmadi also added that homeopathy graduates are not allowed to use the title "Dr" as this is against the Medical Act of Malaysia unless they completed their Ph.D. So, until then they cannot consider themselves as medical doctors. He added that most homeopathy clinics in Malaysia are not run by qualified homeopaths, but these clinics are recognized by the Malaysian Homeopathy Medical Council (MPHM) which is recognized by the Ministry of Health.

The UniKL RCMP representatives were later taken on a campus visit and to the homeopathy clinic located in the same premises. The clinic opens twice a week and charges a very minimal fee for consultation and medication.  The two hour  courtesy call ended with the exchange of souvenirs between Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syed Rahim Syed Hamid and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Asmadi Yusof and the rest of UniKL team.  We believe that this visit would pave the way for better cooperation between the two institutions in the future.
