News : Presentation of Temporary Practicing Certificates to MBBS Batch 2010-2015

The fourth batch of MBBS students of UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak received their temporary certificates from the President of UniKL, Prof Dato' Dr Mazliham Su'ud. The temporary certificate will enable the newly-minted medical graduates to do their 2 year internship at public hospitals under the Ministry of Health.

Prof Dato' Dr Mazliham Su'ud congratulated the 82 medical graduates for their excellent achievement in their final examination. In his keynote address he said there are almost 40 medical schools in Malaysia and the country currently has 41, 000 registered doctors and 5000 new doctors are joining the workforce annually.  He urged all UniKL medical graduates to work hard and make their presence felt in the health industry. In doing so, it will enhance the image of UniKL RCMP.

The reading of the Hippocratic Oath was led by Dr Gowri Chandran. The oath is customarily taken by all new medical practitioners as a solemn pledge to practise medicine honestly and fairly. Dr.Gowri who won the Malaysia Medical Council Award detailed her experiences throughout the five years that she spent at the college. She said, "It seems like yesterday that we first stepped into this university and had our orientation at Pangkor Island. How time flies, but the memories gathered along the way can never be replaced and will always be cherished. It was really hard for me at the beginning of this journey as a medical student, being separated from my family for the first time.

However, I'm thankful to God that I managed to get a few good friends who were there for me whenever I felt homesick at the beginning of this journey. When I stepped into UniKL RCMP for the first time, I was slightly disappointed as I had always wished for a big campus full of sporting facilities and activities but it has been well made up for by my friends here. I cannot forget the fun and joy we had during each posting and one of the best was when my friends and I were posted to Taiping and Seri Iskandar for Paediatrics and FRP and not forgetting the experience of doing medical research which I believe will be very helpful in our future life as medical professional."
