PUTRAJAYA, 13 October – A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was established today to form a strategic partnership between Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and Al Hijrah Media Corporation, a leading Islamic content broadcast company in Malaysia.
The MOU was signed, on behalf of UniKL, by CEO and President, YBhg. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud witnessed by Prof. Dr. Azanam Shah Hashim, Deputy President of Academic and Technology Department while Al Hijrah Media Corporation was represented by Datuk Che Wan Alias Che Abdullah, CEO of Al Hijrah Media Corp and witnessed by Dr. A. Bakar Sarpon, Chief Strategic Officer of Al Hijrah Media Corp.
These collaboration will pave way to strengthen, promote and develop joint co-operation between both parties on the basis of mutual benefits. Through this partnership, UniKL looks to provide excellent exposure to UniKL Students and significant contribution in terms of real projects with Al Hijrah Media Corp. This MOU also sees Al HIjrah Media Corp. providing industrial attachment opportunities for students and also see joint development of Islamic content for television programmes for the benefits of the ummah. Both parties will look at ways to maximize opportunities to explore new resources in content creations in a more economical way.
The MoU will also provide a good platform for Research and Development activities between UniKL and Al Hijrah Media Corporation. It will also broaden the opportunity for all parties to utilize and exchange of expertise and technology which will provide necessary exposure and skill-set development for the students.
In his address to those present at the signing ceremony, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham says, "There are differences between textbook education and practical education. This strategic partnership will give opportunities to the students experience practical real life industrial exposure and train them to work under stress and pressure to meet industry expectations. It is our continuous commitment to nurture and develop talents who are ready-made for the industry."
Meanwhile, Datuk Che Wan Alias expresses his delight and fervent hope that this MOU opens up bigger opportunities for both parties in the future, "This MOU is just the beginning of many more great things to come from us. The room for this joint co-operation is huge and wide and I believe with each other's resources, we can achieve many great things together. This MOU is also our unique way in reaching the younger generation through our dakwah efforts."
There were also discussions on Al Hijrah Media Corp. providing industry experts as guest lecturers to UniKL to share their experience, industry expectations and insights to UniKL students. Datuk Che Wan Alias also adds that in keeping to UniKL's entrepreneurship spirit, UniKL students once equipped with the necessary skill and knowledge, can turn to become entrepreneurs by becoming content providers to Al Hijrah Media Corp. as there is plenty of room to grow and improve especially on Islamic broadcast content in the country.
